I had high expectations but unfortunately, was very disappointed. Let me start by saying I have been traveling to Cozumel for most of my life and this hotel was the first I stayed in 40 years ago, although under a different name at that time. As a side note, the deluxe ocean view rooms are worth paying up for. (All of the above deserve a raise.) Biggest issue was the quality of the food at times and the poor service from other waiters. Special thanks to the waiter Jorge, the two workers at the cappuccino bar, and the entire Michael Jackson show crew. The pools were nice, the snorkeling right off the beach was better than the snorkeling excursion we took. I was understanding but others in my party not so much. A few times we would have to wait 45 minutes just for drinks. The rest of the waiters were not very attentive, but they were often overbooked as well. He was usually over booked but still managed to stay on top of all of our needs. The server Jorge at morning breakfast and Caribbean for Lunch was absolutely our favorite. Icecream, pastries, and cappuccinos were very good from them. The cafe had two excellent servers who seemed to be the same two ladies on most days. The Carribean restaurant had a pretty solid lunch as well and the stuffed shimp may be the best think I ate all week. The Food was mediocre other than the Italian restaurant which usually had an hour long wait. The light and fire shows were sorta neat but most were delayed and not nearly as fun. First, the good! The Michael Jackson show was absolutely phenomenal.

…įamily of 12, just came back today from a 7 day stay at Grand Park Royal Cozumel. If you are planning to go with children (younger than 8 or 9) you will have an amazing time. The soap and shampoo could be of better quality. This is what could improve in this hotel: The front desk: None of the members of the staff at the front desk makes you feel welcome and doesn’t create a first good impression. The food by the beach was decent and the service was good. The buffet was decent with plenty of food choices, the staff at the buffet were very friendly, sadly many impatient customers treated them poorly. The service can get slow as it gets late. The pescador was also good although the service was kind of slow. The desserts were very good especially the panacota. The Italian restaurant was good as well, although we thought that the pasta was a little bit too al dente. Our favorite dishes were the Tampiqueño and the chicken with pipián. Lucero and Manuel are so friendly and courteous. Fernando Lopez makes the best Guacamole in the world. He is always friendly and makes your visit so enjoyable. The food is delicious with rich flavors and good quality ingredients. In terms of food, the Mexican restaurant in our opinion was the best. There is baby sitting service, with very friendly people. The children’s area is fun but maybe for children below 8-9 years. The ocean view from the bar/ jacuzzi area is very nice. The beach is very small and fairly close to the cruise ships, however snorkeling in the morning is pretty amazing (it was one our favorite things to do in the hotel). There is plenty of space but if you want to lay on the more comfy beds by the pool you must reserve in advance. The pool is nice and big, but it is a little bit cold in February. The room service sometimes is delayed and they come like at 5 pm. The rooms in tower 1 are old, the shower is very small, nothing fancy. The weekend we went, coincided with Cozumel's carnival weekend so it was busy but very interesting as well. The water's temperature was nice, we never felt cold in the ocean or anything. I would consider it to be a decent time of the year to visit. There are more positive than negative things to say about the hotel. In general the hotel is a good value for a family as there are plenty of things to do. Our family of four (2 kids ages 9 and 12) stayed for 5 days in the middle of February.
